What This Set Makes

Two 2-inch tips on the 5-, 6-, or 8-inch cable make 9-, 10-, and 12-inch (23, 25, and 30 cm) circulars. Two 3-inch tips on the 6- or 8-inch cable make 12- and 14-inch (30 and 36 cm) circulars, and one tip of each length on those cables makes 11- and 13-inch. Every length from 9 to 14 inches, in six sizes. ChiaoGoo's instruction for the 5-inch cable: use it with 2-inch tips only. Longer [M] cables, sold separately in 14, 22, 30, and 37 inches, take these tips up to a 43-inch circular, and a 3-pack of 2-inch [M] cables lets you create flexible double points with your tips. (All measurements are approximate.)

For 2-inch and 3-inch tips, US-000 through US-3 use the Mini [M] join, so every ChiaoGoo tip, cable, and connector marked [M] works with this set, including the cables in the 4-inch and 5-inch Mini sets. The boundary moves with tip length: on 4-inch and 5-inch tips, US-2 through US-3 take the Small [S] join instead.

Questions About This Set

Will these knit socks without magic loop or double points?
Yes. The 9- to 12-inch circulars this set builds are the small-circumference lengths for socks, mittens, sleeves, and baby hats knit directly in the round. Two 3-inch tips on the 8-inch cable make the 14-inch circular for larger hats.

Do the tips come loose while knitting?
They can if they are only finger-tight. Snug each tip with one of the tightening keys through the hole at the cable's join, and check them now and then. Keeping your ChiaoGoo tips secure walks through it.

Do my other ChiaoGoo tips and cables fit?
Anything marked [M] does: Mini cables in every length and the 4-inch and 5-inch Mini tips. 4-inch and 5-inch US-2 and US-3 tips are [S], not [M]; the [S] tips to [M] cables adapter puts them on these cables.

What are the connectors, end stoppers, and adapters for?
The two connectors and two end stoppers are in the set; the adapters are sold separately. A connector joins two cables of the same join size into one longer cable, so the cables in this set combine for longer circulars. End stoppers turn a cable into a stitch holder. Adapters put a tip on the next smaller cable: an [L] tip on an [S] cable, or an [S] tip on a Mini cable. Swivel adapters screw in between a tip and a TWIST or X-Flex cable so the cable can turn at the join instead of twisting as you knit.

Do the cables kink?
They are memory-free, not kink-free. ChiaoGoo attributes cable failure to repeated sharp bending, tight tension, and lifting heavy projects by the cable or joins, so lift by the needles. If a cable snaps, here is what to do.
