Description
TWIST Lace tips are ChiaoGoo's round interchangeable needle tips, made from surgical stainless steel. Each tip tapers to ChiaoGoo's sharp lace point, which slides into tight stitches and picks up fine yarn.
Stainless steel is the slickest of ChiaoGoo's tip materials. FORTÉ carbon fiber has more grip, and SPIN bamboo has the most. The 3-inch TWIST Lace tips are solid in US-000 through US-3 and hollow in US-4 through US-11.
Sizes
These are 3-inch (8 cm) tips, in 19 sizes from US-000 (1.5 mm) through US-11 (8 mm). Four of the sizes come in no Shorties set: US-000 (1.5 mm), US-00 (1.75 mm), US-10.75 (7 mm), and US-10.875 (7.5 mm).
Cables and Swivel Adapters
TWIST Lace tips screw onto ChiaoGoo interchangeable cables. Choose a cable with the join size that matches your tips:

On 3-inch tips, US-2, US-2.5, and US-3 use the Mini [M] join. The same sizes in 4-inch and 5-inch tips use the Small [S] join.

Choosing your cable length
Two 3-inch (8 cm) TWIST Lace tips add approximately 6 inches (16 cm) to the cable length.

The 6-inch cable comes in red TWIST Mini [M], blue X-Flex Small [S], and silver SWIV360 Small [S] and Large [L].
Choosing a swivel
A swivel lets the cable turn independently of the tips, so the cable does not twist as you knit. A swivel is optional, and tight stitches made with fine yarn can catch on the swivel. Swivels are available for Small [S] and Large [L] tips, US-4 through US-11:
- Silver SWIV360 cables: The swivel is built into the cable, so you need no adapters.
- Red TWIST cables: These have fixed joins. A pair of swivel adapters adds a swivel, one between each tip and the cable. TWIST Lace tips also connect directly to red TWIST cables without adapters.

TWIST Lace tips also come in 5-inch (13 cm) and 4-inch (10 cm) lengths. Which ChiaoGoo sleeve and pouch fit these tips?
ChiaoGoo makes tip sleeves and pocket-sized pouches for its short tips, the same ones that come in the Shorties sets. Choose the sleeve by tip size: US-0 through US-3 use the 2-inch and 3-inch tip sleeve for US-0 to US-3, US-4 through US-8 use the 2-inch and 3-inch tip sleeve for US-4 to US-8, and US-9, US-10, US-10.5, and US-11 use the 3-inch tip sleeve for US-9 to US-11. The red, blue, and yellow nylon pouches are identical except for color, so it does not matter which color holds which sizes. ChiaoGoo matches the colors to its Shorties sets: red for US-0 to US-3, blue for US-4 to US-8, and yellow for US-9 to US-11.
Do the tips come loose while knitting?
They can if they are only finger-tight. Tighten each tip with a tightening key through the hole at the cable's join every time you attach it. US-000 through US-3 also have a tightening hole on the tip, so you can use two keys at once. A properly tightened join is smooth and does not snag yarn.
