QUADS are ChiaoGoo's square interchangeable needle tips, made from the same surgical stainless steel as the round TWIST tips. Each tip has four flat sides with rounded corners and tapers to ChiaoGoo's sharp lace point. The flat sides rest against your fingers and resist rolling, so your hand can stay relaxed instead of gripping to keep the needle steady.

QUADS have the same weight and yarn glide as round tips. ChiaoGoo calibrates them to knit at the same gauge as round tips in the same size, so a pattern should not need reworking. As with any change of needle, a quick gauge swatch is still worth doing, since tension is personal.

Sizes

These are 5-inch (13 cm) tips, in 11 sizes from US-3 (3.25 mm) through US-11 (8 mm), including US-10.75 (7 mm).

Cables and Swivel Adapters

QUADS screw onto ChiaoGoo interchangeable cables, and the flat sides make the tips easier to grip as you screw them on and off. Choose a cable with the join size that matches your tips:

Choosing your cable length

Two 5-inch (13 cm) QUADS tips add approximately 10 inches (26 cm) to the cable length.

Choosing a swivel

A swivel lets the tips turn independently of the cable, so the cable does not twist as you knit. On a square tip this matters more, because even a small turn rolls the flat side you are holding onto a corner. With a swivel, the needle settles with its flat sides resting against your fingers.

• Silver SWIV360 cables: The swivel is built into the cable, so you need no adapters.
• Red TWIST cables: These have fixed joins. ChiaoGoo recommends adding a pair of swivel adapters when using QUADS, one between each tip and the cable.
