Running With Scissors is a zip-up tool case that keeps rotary cutters, scissors, markers, small rulers, and turning tools in one place and easy to reach. The interior mixes clear vinyl, mesh, and quilted-fabric pockets in a layout you arrange around the tools you actually use. It zips flat to carry and opens out to put everything on display next to your machine. Annie Unrein designed it in collaboration with Tula Pink, so it fits Tula's hardware collection and just as easily holds rotary cutters, rulers, and tools from other makers.

The pattern gives full-color, step-by-step instructions for the complete Tool Case, with photos throughout and no cutting templates required. A coupon for the $5 Add-On Video is included at no extra charge, covering the more detailed steps alongside the printed instructions.

What You'll Need

The case is built from quilting-weight cotton with ByAnnie's Soft and Stable for structure:

• Main fabric (case body and pockets): ¾ yard
• Lining fabric: ¾ yard
• Coordinating fabric (bindings, straps, handle, zipper pulls): ¾ yard
• ByAnnie's Soft and Stable (58" wide): 1 yard, one 36in x 58in
• Fusible interfacing: 7" x 12½" (e.g. Shape-Flex Fusible Woven Interfacing)
• Mesh fabric (inner pockets): 4" x 13½"
• Vinyl (inner pockets): 12" x 12½" (e.g. ByAnnie's Premium Clear Vinyl, 16-gauge)
• Handbag zippers: at least 100" of zipper tape plus 6 pulls. Two 30" or longer double-slide zippers and one 40" or longer double-slide zipper cover the closure and pockets, all cut from ByAnnie's Zippers by the Yard.
• 1" polypropylene strapping (handle): ¾ yard
• 20mm fold-over elastic (center facing): ¾ yard
• Thread: 50 wt polyester to match

A round object is used to shape the corners, and the instructions list the recommended sizes. Save directional prints until you are comfortable with the construction. Full cutting dimensions are inside the pattern.
