Sewing With Vinyl
Clear vinyl behaves a little differently from fabric, and a few habits make it easy to handle. Leave the paper backing attached while cutting so the edges stay visible. When sewing, the paper can sit under the vinyl and to the left of the needle to keep it from sticking to the machine bed, then tear away afterward. If the presser foot drags, a strip of tape on the bottom of the foot or a nonstick (Teflon) foot solves it.
Skip the pins. Pinholes in vinyl are permanent, so Wonder Clips are the better way to hold seams. Keep the vinyl away from a hot iron. For light wrinkles, a few minutes in the dryer with a damp towel, then laying it flat to cool, smooths it out. The surface is moisture resistant and wipes clean with a cloth. Per ByAnnie, it can also be machine washed and dried on medium heat; remove it promptly and lay it flat to cool.
