How to Use It
Sashiko is Japanese hand-stitching rooted in the mending traditions of rural Edo-period Japan, worked in running stitch with heavy cotton thread. Thread a needle with sashiko thread, rock the point in and out of the cloth along the printed or marked line, and load several stitches onto the needle before you draw the thread through. A longer needle holds more stitches on each pass. Clover hardens and tempers the steel so the needles resist bending, nickel-plates the shafts, and shapes the gold-plated eyes as long ovals for easier threading.

Fit and Limits
The large eyes take sashiko thread and other heavy cotton threads. The longest needle in this package is 2 in (50.8 mm). For longer runs of stitches, Clover's Long Sashiko Needles Package of 3 runs from 2 1/4 in (57.2 mm) to 2 3/4 in (69.8 mm).
