Description
Foundation paper piecing starts with getting the pattern onto paper that will survive being sewn through and then come off cleanly. Carol Doak's Foundation Paper is blank stock made for that job. Print or copy any foundation pattern you own onto a sheet, stitch on the printed lines, and tear the paper away when the block is finished.

How to Use It
Run the sheets through most inkjet printers, laser printers, or copy machines to print your foundation. Position fabric on the blank side and stitch on the printed lines. Carol Doak's own directions call for 18 to 20 stitches per inch and a 90/14 needle, which perforates the sheet so it releases later without loosening the seam. Fold the paper back along a sewn line to trim seam allowances. Press with a dry iron on a cotton setting, using a press cloth to protect your ironing board cover from ink. When the block is pieced and squared up, tear the paper away.
The sheets carry no printed blocks, no numbering, and no pattern, so they work with any foundation design you print or draw yourself. If you would rather have the block already printed and numbered, a pre-printed foundation pad is the better tool for that.

This is the paper she then worked with C&T Publishing to bring to market.
