How to Use It
Lay the seam over the rounded wool top and press it open with a warm, steamy iron. The 20-inch length spans long sashing strips and border seams, so you open more of the seam at once instead of working it in short sections. Turn the bar over and bring the flat wood base down on the steamed seam, holding a few seconds, and the wood sets the seam flat and sharp.
The curve keeps the iron from creasing the fabric on either side of the seam, which matters on long, visible border and sashing seams where a wave or a shine would show. It sets and opens seams rather than serving as a surface for pressing whole blocks or yardage.
