The pad's reference page lists approximate yardage for piecing all 50 blocks: 2 yards of scraps and 1 1/8 yards of background fabric. The background can be a single color, a solid blender, or anything solid-reading that contrasts well with the scrappy halves. Background triangles are cut from 25 squares at 7 3/4 inches, each square cut in half on the diagonal to yield triangles for 2 blocks. Specific cutting sizes for each foundation are printed on the foundation itself.
