How It Works:
Position the stencil on your fabric where you want the design, use a fabric marking pencil to trace the pattern, then set the stencil aside and stitch. The stencils use Sylvia Pippen's fast2mark system, which keeps the design spacing consistent – one of the trickier parts of sashiko when working freehand. Each design traces at 3" x 5", so you can repeat and tile the pattern to fill a larger area.
What You'll Need:
These stencils work with supplies you likely already have: fabric (dark indigo or navy are traditional, but any solid works), a fabric marking pencil or chalk, sashiko thread or pearl cotton, and a needle with an eye large enough for your thread. No special equipment required.
