Description
Keep this 1 x 12 inch ruler beside the sewing machine for quick measurements and for marking 1/4 inch seam allowances. The 1 inch grid carries 1/8 inch marks, a 1/4 inch dashed line runs inside both long edges, a solid line marks the 1/2 inch center, and the embedded non-slip grip holds the ruler still when you press down. Rachel Cross of Creative Grids designed it.

How to Use It
Black numbers 1 to 11 in white circles run down the center line from one end, with a black grid line at every inch and 1/8 inch tick marks on every grid line and along all four edges. Measure from the numbered end to cut or check whole inches, and read the ticks for the fractions. The 1/4 inch dashed lines inside both long edges mark seam allowances: set one on a drawn line or a seam to mark or trim 1/4 inch beyond it. The solid center line marks 1/2 inch from either long edge. The ruler slides on the fabric while you position it; pressing down engages the grip.

Fit and Limits
This ruler measures up to 12 inches. The 6 inch version has the same markings at half the length. The markings are black only, with no Turn-a-Round numbers, no 45 degree lines, no centering cross, and no hanging hole. The eighth-inch marks are tick marks, not full lines.
