The US Coast Guard, stationed in nearby Dollar Bay, was on hand at the Great Cardboard Boat Regatta in case anyone was to need rescue from a not-so-great (i.e. sinking or capsized) cardboard boat.

 The water pipe between the well and the house developed a leak four feet under ground, turning our lawn into a soggy mess. Fortunately Lynn found the break in the pipe after digging only one hole!

New in 2000, the Keweenaw Star is providing cruises on the Keweenaw Waterway. I'm going to have to ask the folks at Keweenaw Excursions to adjust their schedule slightly. If they had come through two minutes earlier, the sun would still have been a fiery orange ball on the horizon. (25K)
